We are a community based mental health rehabilitation service. We aim to give people who experience mental health problems the chance to recover their confidence, rebuild their self worth and learn new skills. We offer people with mental health problems a therapeutic work environment that is structured, purposeful and creative. The service offers people the opportunity to develop skills in horticulture, cooking, woodwork, ceramics and other crafts.
People are encouraged to identify their goals and work towards them. We believe that everybody can offer something to the group and the community. Ongoing support is given by experienced staff, volunteers from the local community and there is an advice service from Mental Health Matters.
A Benefits Advisor provides guidance on income and financial matters and an Employment Support Worker provides support when people are ready to move on to further training, volunteering, or paid work.
The group is open Monday to Friday between 9am and 3pm, with lunch provided. Whilst some people come every day, most attend on a part-time basis. A minibus service is available in the South Oxfordshire area. Everyone has regular meetings with an identified staff member and, where appropriate, a statutory key worker, providing an opportunity to review and reflect on the placement.
People join the project through being referred by a member of their care team or people can refer themselves. After an initial visit, a six week trial period will be arranged.
