Become a Trustee
What is a charity trustee?
Charity trustees are the people who are responsible for the overall running and management of a charity and oversee all the major decisions on behalf of that charity. They are voting members of the charity's governing body.
They set out the strategic direction of the charity and must feel confident that the charity is well managed and meeting its objectives.
Charity trustees are also responsible by law for the financial security and transparency of their charities.

What does it involve?
We need people who are able to attend a main meeting every two months and a sub committee meeting every six weeks. This means a time commitment of about two to three hours a month.
Trustees also take a special interest in one of our four projects and are expected to visit regularly
Experience
We need people with a range of skills and experience. Some which may be particularly helpful include:
- management
- finance and business
- legal
- public relations
- information technology
- fundraising
Applications from people who have experienced mental health problems are encouraged
We’re looking for people who can:
- support Restores aims
- feel comfortable with making policy decisions
- understand the needs of people with mental health problems
- understand the benefits of RESTORE's work in support, rehabilitation, and training
- have a basic understanding of finances and how charities work
- work effectively as part of a team
- show strategic leadership
- communicate effectively
This is a voluntary position and our trustees are not paid. Any reasonable expenses incurred will be reimbursed
