MG_7760-300x199Didcot Mayor Peter Read (left) officially opened Restore’s new community garden as part of Fleet Meadow’s autumn fair on Saturday 8th September. The fair also featured live bands, workshops, stalls and a bouncy castle.

Restore’s community gardens project was funded by Ecominds and enabled people with mental health problems to develop skills and improve their wellbeing. The team worked together to provide a resource for the local community. The Didcot garden, developed by members from Restore’s South Oxfordshire group, contains a pergola, a pond and a raised sensory garden for people with physical disabilities.

Mr Read said, ‘They have done a tremendous job, and that is attracting funds from other charities into Didcot. The garden is a very pleasant space with lots of wild flowers which attract insects and make it tranquil. I made a bee line for the bench under the willow trees.’

The community garden is at Fleet Meadow, Sandringham Road, Didcot, OX118TP and is open to everyone Monday to Friday 9am – 5pm.
