This August Restore is celebrating 35 years of supporting people with mental health problems in Oxfordshire. As 35th wedding anniversaries are usually marked with coral, the theme of this year’sElder Stubbs Festival on Saturday 18th August will be the seaside. Look out for hints of this around the festival!

Founded in 1977 by Lord Young of Dartington and local psychiatrist Dr Peter Agulnik, Restore’s aim was to focus on what people can do and not on their illness. Much has changed since 1977 but we continue to believe everyone has talents and abilities, and the capacity to make a valuable contribution to the community. People with mental health problems have the right to work and the right to the support they need to become and remain employed.

We believe the stigma associated with mental health problems damages our whole community and we work to challenge this discrimination. That is what Elder Stubbs Festival is all about. Organised by our members, volunteers and staff, the festival is an inclusive event that celebrates the skills and talents of people with mental health problems. We hope you can celebrate with us at the festival on 18th August 12pm – 5pm on Rymers Lane (opposite Florence Park) in East Oxford.
