Restore visits River Cottage

River Cottage and Restore have many shared values so we were delighted to attend their Get Growing in Spring event on 25th March. Ladies from our Elder Stubbs Recovery Group report on the day:

River Cottage is Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall’s home, a television chef who cooks with a lot of his own produce. Restore was fortunate enough to be given free tickets to one of their open days. Twelve of us travelled to Dorset in the Restore mini bus driven by a member of staff.

It was a good learning experience. We saw morris dancing and enjoyed listening to the music. We watched country crafts like basket weaving, walking-stick-making and more. Lunch was lovely homemade burgers with salad.

One of the things we took part in was the produce exchange. We took along a selection of our produce and exchanged it for produce made by other people attending the day. We came away with cakes and jams. We had a lovely day and luckily the sun shone all day.

A big thank you to River Cottage for their support!
