David Thurston


David retired from the NHS in late 2015 after over 40 years working as a doctor. He came to Oxford in 1974 to train as a psychiatrist, switched to general practice in 1979, practising until 2000 when he returned to psychiatry as a consultant psychiatrist. He helped establish an Assertive Outreach Team to help service users who suffered from serious enduring mental illness & had difficulty in engaging with standard services. He brings to Restore a unique experience of clinical work & understanding of the difficulties service users face in being heard. His philosophy of care is at one with Restore.
