Roy walks Land’s End to John O’Groats for Restore!

Lockdown hasn’t stopped our wonderful supporter Roy doing something amazing for Restore. As the clock struck midnight on New Year’s Eve he decided to walk the 1,083.8-mile route from Land’s End to John O’Groats, covering the distance in his local area but blogging and tracking his progress as if travelling from coast to coast. Roy is determined to use this challenge to raise money for Restore, and awareness about mental ill-health.

It hasn’t been an entirely easy journey for Roy. Forced to self-isolate, he continued to put in the miles, walking an astounding 8 miles in one day in his own home. Incredibly, he remained on track, and is currently around 900 miles from finishing his journey. His goal is to complete his walk during Mental Health Awareness Week in May.

If you’d like some lockdown escapism, visit his incredible page here! Using Google Maps, local webcams, pictures and interviews with locals, he brings to life the places he’s travelling through. He’s keen to chat to people (remotely) along the way, to share stories that raise awareness about mental health and wellbeing, so if you’d like to get involved please do contact him.

And of course, if you’re inspired to support him in this 1,000-mile venture, please visit his fundraising page here.
